| Comments: | I am something of an old stager by your standards. I served with No.62 Squadron in Aden, Cyprus and Libya during 1955/1956. I was a National Serviceman and I have to say I enjoyed every minute of my service. Particularly in Aden. It was mostly an internal security role there but the tours up-country to the Radfan mountains was interesting. We moved to El Adem in early 1956 and spent most of the time on mine-clearing duties with one month trips to Nicosia for security duties during the Enosis emergency. When I left 62 Sqd was being integrated into 3 Wing at the time of the Suez crisis. My demob was delayed a few weeks by that event but not too much. I considered re-enlisting but cupid got me first. I have been in since 1967 and now doing my last two years on the Regt Flt at Brize. My lads reckon I did crash guard for Icarus! We would love to see any Rocks, present and past who are transiting through Brize or are in the local area.
