| Comments: | Hi Tim, I lived in Cyprus in the 1960's when my dad was in the RAF regiment there. We lived in Akrotiri and I bet the place has changed a great deal since we were there. Ladies mile beach was nothing but sand dunes and one wooden shack where you could buy a soda. We used to take our little barbecue thing and cook sausages on the beach. We buried our bottles in the wet sand to keep them cool!!! Thanks for the memories *s* |

| Comments: | Further to Pete Tuite's message about my Dad, Brian Deeley. His funeral will be held on Wednesday 25 February at 1330 at the Parish Church in Tring, Hertfordshire (close to RAF Halton, his home town. Anybody who knew him are most welcome to attend and afterwards at the Rose and Crown Hotel. Dad was very proud to have served in the Regiment and was always interested in the Regiment's deployments worldwide since his retirement. His career lasted 37 years, first as a National Service RAF Fireman and then with 2 Squadron, 1963-1966, 3 LAA Wing and NEAF Parachute Rescue Team RAF Akrotiri 1966-1968, 2 Squadron 1968-1976, 34 Squadron 1976-1980, OCTU RAF Cranwell 1980, GDT RAF Shawbury 1980-1982, 34 Squadron 1982-1985, 2 Squadron 1985-1988 and then DNBCC Winterbourne Gunner 1988-1993 where he retired by running his last BFT in the same boots he was issued with in 1956! | Comments: | It is with great sadness to inform you, those that have not heard, of the sudden death of Steve Chapman who was at RAF Cranwel. Steve sadly passed away this week. The funeral will be held at RAF College Cranwel Chapel of St Michael and all Angels at 1030hrs on Monday 23rd Feb 04. He will be laid to rest in Cranwel village at the Parish Church of St Andrews. The Sgts Mess will be open to all afterwards. There has been some accomodation in the Mess booked, however this is obviously limited. If you want somewhere to doss down, bring a sleeping bag as i have a room booked. Our sympathies from past and present to all of Steve's family. |
