Rapier Squadrons

The RAF Regiment has four Ground Based Air Defence Squadrons. Each squadron is equipped with the BAe Rapier FSC  (Field Standard C) surface to air missile system.

Two of the Squadrons are based at RAF Honington, the RAF Regiment depot, the others are at RAF Waddington, near Lincoln and RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire. Between them, the squadrons maintain a detachment providing ground based air defence in the Falkland Islands.
